High frequency also has an antiseptic effect on skin in that it effectively sterilizes skin and kills bacteria. These glass tubes are the electrodes and this specific spoon shaped electrode is used to specifically treat pimples and blemishes on the face. They are gas filled with Argon or Neon and will light when activated (violet/blue or red/orange respectively). These electrodes come in 4 different shapes, Indirect, Mushroom, Curved, and Spoon.

Argon or Neon?

Argon Electrodes (violet/purple colored) and Neon Electrodes (red/orange colored) are used on the same High Frequency Facial Machine, but are used to treat different things. Knowing the difference between an Argon electrode and a Neon Electrode can help you better decide which type is the one you need.

Argon Electrodes:

Argon Electrodes are generally used by estheticians to treat acne prone skin. Ultraviolet lightning (UV) provides anti-bacterial properties when a miniscule amount is exposed to the skin and can also provide healing effects. These effects take place because Argon is denser than air and displaces oxygen.

Neon Electrodes:

Neon Electrodes are generally used by estheticians for the treatment of aging skin or wrinkles. Neon electrodes direct more warmth to the treatment area and promotes better blood circulation, cellular turnover rate and future product penetration through the skin. Neon in its liquid form is widely used as a cryogenic refrigerant, or a natural preservative. Because of this, treatment with neon has shown results that preserve youth or reduces the signs of aging by stimulating fibroblases and collagen products.
